Before beginning here, I need to mention D2L Email is not real email. In can only be used to send from an internal D2L account to another D2L email account. It cannot communicate to and from pikespeak.edu or student.cccs.edu accounts. You can set up D2L emails to forward to your work email, but replying to those forwarded alerts will result in lost emails. Please use D2L Email as an internal messaging system only.
Send an email to one student #
The easiest way to send a D2L Email to a single student is to go to the classless and click on the student’s name.

A window will automatically pop-up with the “To” field already filled in. The email subject line will also be your course title, and you can choose to edit or delete this as needed. Type your email message in the body and hit the “Send” button when finished.

Send an email to your whole class #
To send an email to your whole class, navigate to your course’s Classlist, and click on the “Message Classlist” button.

Then, you can select whether you like to send you message all the people in your classlist, or just students, or just instructors in the course using the tabs. When you’re ready, click on “Send Internal Message”.

A window will pop up with all of the emails automatically placed in BCC. Edit or delete the email subject line and type in your message in the Body area. Click on Send when finished.
View Internal D2L Emails #
D2L Email will appear at the top of the page under the envelope icon. Click “Internal Messaging” to see all your internal emails.

Click on a message title to read it. Then, click Reply at the bottom of the screen to reply to the email.

Reminder: You can only send emails to other internal D2L emails. If you try to enter an email ending in @pikespeak.edu or @student.cccs.edu it will not send.
Note: if you are emailing about grades and other personal information, please don’t send emails with everyone’s name in To, but rather move them to BCC using copy/paste:
