If you have been given “Instructor with Enroll” access to a course, you have the ability to add other users to the course as students, instructors, and a variety of other roles. Typically you will only have “Instructor with Enroll” access to a Division, Department, Resource, or Starter Shell. You can check if you have “Instructor with Enroll” access by finding yourself on the Classlist of a course.

To begin, click on the “Add Participants” button, then click “Add existing users”.

Then, search for the user you want to enroll by their S#. This is the best way to ensure you will enroll the correct user. This step may take a couple minutes to load as the system has a LOT of users to search through in D2L.

Scroll down to see the search results. When you find the user you want to enroll, click the checkbox next to their name. You will need to check this box otherwise you will get an error when you try and enroll them.
Then, select the role you would like them to have. You will probably want to enroll users in one of three main roles:
- Student – If you want the user to be able to see content and complete any learning activities, choose this role.
- Instructor – If you want the user to be able to add, edit, or delete content from the course shell, choose this role.
- Instructor with Enroll (NC) – If you want the user to have all the permissions of an instructor plus the ability to enroll other users, choose this role.
If you are curious about any of the other roles on the list, please contact us. When you’ve finished selecting the role, click the “Enroll Selected Users” button.

The user should now appear in the Classlist.
If you accidentally enroll the wrong user, go to the course Classlist and check the box next to the user’s name. Then, click on “Unenroll”.
